When your future son-in-law says “take a hike,” you should parse the sentence carefully to make sure you understand the full intent. Bu”t I believe his intentions were honorable, because he added “during the blue hour for photography. I did this trip to cover the golden hour, the blue hour, and then my favorite, the lunch hour. The golden hour is that two hours after sunrise/before sunset when there is a golden cast to the light. The blue hour is twilight. That hour immediately before sunrise or just after sunset when shadows are a nice shade of blue. The lunch hour is that time when the sun is high and photographically speaking, it is best just to take a nap. So I started up going over the hill
There is always a hill. I proceeded on down to Lodge Lake.
Where apparently bigfoot had been stepping
And then I just wandered around enjoying the sunshine, the lakes, and a Hersey bar.
Then I headed over to Mardee Lake
and caught the last 45 minutes of “the golden hour”
the sun went behind the ridge and the blue hour officially started
But the high peaks were still in the golden hour and their reflections
had to duke it out with the blue hour on the ice.
It was a great day in the sun and a good day for photography. Thanks for the suggestion Jason.
