The hike may also be a snow shoe trip or may be a kayak trip, but it will not be of our travels. If you wish to see our travel pictures visit us at:

Reds Meadow

The Reds Meadow campsite had a subject of discussion for several days.  It had a public telephone  and a general store where we could get a cold beer, but in our minds it was a spa. So we started off that day with a light step and anticipation in our heart.

Day 5-1

As we headed along the ridge we could see Banner and Ritter, now only one day off in the distance.

Day 5-4

We down the final ridge and entered an area that had had a recent forests fire.

Day 5-8

And while the trees were totally destroyed, a severe burn does give other plants a chance to grow and the flowers were taking full advantage of the situation.

Day 5-6

The trail itself was a delight.  Below 9000 feet and we almost got giddy with all of the oxygen in each breath.

Day 5-7

The trail wound around and through  the flowers fields

Day 5-9

and went gently downhill to a beautiful little forest

Day 5-10

Where we set up camp, had access to phones, and did get a cold beer, a great cheeseburger, and luke warm shower.
